Emotions and architecture put into the paintings
Galerie Arte Sol
With the works of Julia Moniewski and René Rios, architecture on the one hand looks like a background, and on the other hand it seems a bit strange as a pretext.
Julia Moniewski was born in the Polish city of Inowroclaw and was already interested in painting and music as a child. As a result, her first drawings were made, such as studies of people in their everyday lives and portraits, the form that was closest to her from the beginning. But for the time being she attended high school for art and music. In the nine-year training she learned to play the piano. This was followed by architectural studies at the college in Bydgoszcz, Poland. At the same time, Julia Moniewski attended numerous painting and drawing courses with a focus on figure and nude drawing. She is currently working in an architecture office in Bettlach.
Emotions put into the paintings
Julia Moniewski is particularly attracted to people and their different moods, therefore, portraiture is prominent part of her work. A strong stylistic role model is the Polish painter Tamara de Lempicka, the icon of Art Deco painting. However, Julia has found her own way of expressing herself with powerful broad brushstrokes and intense colours. In addition to fictional themes, she also uses models. Whatever her inspiration is, her work always embodies its own feelings and emotions. As she herself says, she wonders why her pictures are all contemplative or sad.
Born in Argentina, René Rios trained as a Master in Visual Arts, Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Arts at Tucuman University. The architecture in his works, mixed technique on chalk ground is not directed to forward-looking urbanistic visions, but remains retrospectively in sketch-like sections of barrack camps with glued series of wooden models, which are in reminiscence of the concentration camps in World War II.
Urbanist visions
Le Corbusier has deliberately kept himself away from politics as a contemporary witness. René Rios raises the question with his work as a warning: is his architecture exhausted in barracks? How about current urbanist visions? And what effect does his work have on the exhibition visitors? René Rios currently works as an art mediator in the "Creaviva" in the center of Klee and lives in Lausanne.
